Size S metal garden bed, dark grey – a durable choice for your garden
The size S dark grey metal garden bed is a modular, long-lasting planter for vegetables, herbs and flowers. The 0.6 mm galvanised Aluzinc steel withstands Estonia’s changeable weather, does not rot and needs no annual treatment. The dark grey finish gives the garden a clean, contemporary look.
One kit can be built in three different shapes, so you can choose the layout that suits your site, the soil volume you want and your plants:
- Long and narrow: 240 × 60 × 28 cm, capacity 0.40 m³.
- Medium: 195 × 105 × 28 cm, capacity 0.57 m³.
- Square: 150 × 150 × 28 cm, capacity 0.63 m³.
Why choose a dark grey metal garden bed?
Galvanised steel panels, stainless steel bolts and nuts and plant-safe paint make a sturdy whole. A rubber safety edging covers the top edge to make the box more comfortable and safer to use. The open bottom lets excess water drain away and allows roots to grow into the natural soil.
- Long service life: over 20 years with proper use.
- Low maintenance: the surface is easy to clean and does not need regular painting.
- Flexible design: one kit, three possible sizes.
- Safety details: safety edging and stainless fixings.

Installing the metal garden bed
- Prepare the site. Choose a level surface and remove larger stones and weeds. If needed, lay cardboard or geotextile underneath.
- Join the panels. Fasten the side panels with the stainless steel bolts and nuts included in the kit.
- Choose a suitable shape. Before final tightening, decide which of the three sizes suits your garden best.
- Fill in layers. Branches and leaves suit the bottom layer, compost the middle, and good-quality growing soil the top.

Growing in a raised bed
The 28 cm high growing space is ideal for lettuces, herbs, strawberries, onions and many vegetables. The raised planting area reduces bending and keeps the growing area clearly defined. In spring, the soil in a metal garden bed warms up quickly, while the open bottom supports drainage. A layer of mulch helps retain moisture in summer and reduces weeds. If possible, place the box in a sunny spot and choose soil to suit your plants. This makes the size S dark grey metal garden bed a practical growing environment in both a small home garden and a larger plot.
